The Story Behind Her Name

When Chris & I were deciding on names, we tossed around the ideas of Domenica and Luciana, but settled on Capria as soon as we found out she was a girl. There was some debate over Capri or Capria! (If the bambina were a bambino, we loved the names Angelo or Giacamo.)

There are 3 big reasons why her name is so special to us:

1) Her godmother, Jen, heard the name years ago and always kept it tucked in her pocket for when I had babies. Chris & I loved it because it reminds us of Capri, Italy.

2) Her middle name is after her great Aunt Annette, who moved up to heaven when I was 4 months pregnant. She was the greatest godmother in the world. I was so sad at the thought of her never getting to meet my daughter — especially after how excited she was to welcome “the bambino” as she called her — but Uncle Joey said to me “You know they’ve already met in heaven. She’s already held her.” We all miss Aunt Nettles madly–  and Capria is already filling the big hole in our hearts that she left.

3) She has the same initials – CAS – as her Daddy, just as I have the same initials as my Daddy!
