Ready to go!

Someone who isn’t worried about being swimsuit ready this summer

With Daddy

Loving the purple carrots!

By far, one of the most demanding – yet rewarding – things I’ve ever done in my life. Making mommy’s milk for my girl. This is our “inventory counting day”.

I am proud– enough breastmilk, her perfect nutrition, for over a year!

Someone melts this tough guy’s heart!
I don’t look at her and think she has grown too quickly, as I know some moms feel. I love the pace that she has grown. I’m not sad that she is growing, changing, learning, expanding, exploring, becoming even more lovable and fun. I love every minute of it. I’ve never had a bad day with her. But, I suppose that listening to so many moms say over and over how quickly they grow, scares me. I am waiting for that one day where I wake up and she has grown overnight! I am going to try my best to let go of the worry that my baby will grow quicker than my heart can bare. I am going to enjoy every moment as I have been, encourage her milestones, teach her more and when those days come that I have to pack away clothes that no longer fit her or books that she’s outgrown, I will thank God for our daughter who is growing. As she turns 6 months, it coincides with the anniversary of losing our Aunt Nettles. When I look at her, I think “Nettles would be loving this right now!” I like to think that, actually, she is.
Capria – You are a mom’s dream come true. We constantly say “How did we get such an easy baby?” We love every part of you! Here are some favorite things about you this 6th month:
You laugh like crazy (we’re talking belly laughing at its finest!)
You smile all day long & only cry if you’re hungry
You go to swimming lessons with Mommy every Monday & have already learned to hold your breath under water
Your doctor says you’re at a 9 month level
You love to read and turn the page on your own– between your grandmas, parents & Sophia, you probably read 10-15 books a day!
You look when we call your name
You say “Dada” now and you love him big time (I’m crazy about him, too!)
You wake up 2x a night to eat – we call you “Two Snack Savena”
You are a wonderfully adventurous eater and have tried new foods like kale, quinoa, leeks and beets and you like herbs/spices in your food like spearmint and basil.
You weigh 18# and are 25.5 inches long
You’re strong. You have strong little, chubby legs that you love to stand up on. You can out-crunch anyone: you’ll do a mini-sit-up to get to the action.
You often squeeze your hands together like you’re praying
You’re just so easy! You don’t need a pacifier, you don’t mind the car seat, you fall asleep quickly, etc. etc.
You squeal with delight when you’re happy
Crawling seems close. You have all of the skills needed, but just have to figure out how to put it all together. You make lots of progress around the floor in other, almost secret ways. I put you down one place and you end up in another without any obvious locomotion. Just the occasional roll-over, some inching around and—poof!—you’re on the other side!
You’re curious about River, but we keep you guys at a safe distance apart, especially since you like to grab (and that grab is not easily loosened!)
One of the best smiles is the one right after you wake up in the morning. You’re so excited. I feed you in bed while your dad showers, and when he comes back into the room and you spot him again, you almost gasp – like “There he is! There he is! You’re BOTH here!”
You are a cuddler, an observer, and a super calm little babe
