It feels like just yesterday I was trying to decide if I was in labor or not– and today, my bambina is 10 months old. This month has been my favorite– perhaps I say that about all the months. This month has been her biggest developmental leap– I wonder where my sweet, lumpy, pouty-lipped newborn baby went.
Capria’s strength is impressive. We’ll be playing and all of a sudden she’s just standing in the middle of the floor hanging out. I half expect her to just walk right over to me. I think when she does walk, she will just run! This girl wants to move SO fast when she has fingers to hang on to. A few days ago she walked over to the stairs and started climbing them. 2 days later and she’s got the stairs down.
My favorite thing is when she says “Mama”, because she repeats the syllables over and over, and when she gets a reaction out of me, she keeps going. She loves to clap and gets the biggest, cheesiest smile when she does it. She points, waves & even bounces when there’s music.
As for food, this baby girl is a porker. Capria, if you’re reading this some day, we love that you’re a porker! But in all reality, this girl can eat. She will eat anything we give her, and even things we don’t give her. She’s still on breastmilk and in between, she loves lentils, pineapple, quinoa, Greek yogurt, hummus & raspberries.
Her bedtime routine is down pat from 7:30pm – 7:00 am. How lucky are we? She takes two naps a day, though the timing varies depending on what we have going on that day. I am still taking off 1 day a week to just spend with her and Mondays are, of course, my favorite day. I have one meeting I have to take care of each Monday morning, and I usually wear her in the wrap for that. After, we go to swimming class and then head to the library together for storytime. Taking off a day during the week is really tough on me, work-wise, but I’ll never forget this time we have together. She continues to get all the grandma-love the remainder of the week– and she gets sooo excited to see her Mimi & Nunny, as evident by the leg kicking and babbling!
Teething hasn’t been as dramatic as I imagined it to be. I pictured her up in the night screaming for hours on end, but so far, her only “symptoms” have been putting every.single.thing in her mouth. And as of today, she has 3 pearly whites! Of course, this could all change. But right now, I am enjoying how cute her little baby teeth are.
I’m just feeling so grateful that I get to be her mama. It’s hard to put into words just how much she’s changed my life for the better. I’m so thankful every day that she is happy and healthy.
